I've tried the recommended steps for creating then setting the value for WindowsCopilot to 1, but the AI functions still return.

Yep. I can see that my solution is probably to ditch Chrome and use Edge instead, despite most of my cloud stuff being google and android. The problem that manifested which I was trying to solve was that Chrome was constantly hanging (infuriating). I discovered that when I killed Edge from running in the background this went away. Just not enough resources for both. So if I cannot stop Edge from starting up randomly I will have to switch to it. Futile, resignation.
Well it's a bit jury rigged, but you could make yourself a service that runs every 5 minutes, checks to see if edge is running in the background and closes it.
Awesome! This is the best answer. Using GPEDIT did the trick quite nicely. Forget the registry hack.
Bottom line...the only way to fight it is to stop buying it. There are so many things "shoved down our throats" that we don't like or agree with, yet we continue to buy the items that do this.

First make sure that all Edge processes have ended, enter the Edge installation directory and remove the files.
