This problem is going on for a long time now. Just picked up again this morning. The good news is that whatever we try, I can still use my laptop, as you see, so the system is running however with old Windows. Interesting development happened I downloaded the Fixlist for EnglishFRST. I ran EnglishFirst and execute Fix option, this was a very short action, however there was a fix, the fixlog is uploaded. I re-ran the setup as admin, and very interesting now, it continued after the screen "getting thing ready for you to install", it effectively started the installation of Windows 11, on a blue screen, with a Percentage counting up. Unfortunately it stopped suddenly at 62%, with a small screen "installation failed". The CrashDump Directory in the C:\ is empty, no dump I checked the $WINDOWS.~BT folder in sources directory to rename the appraiserres.dll or move it somewhere else, however during this action, all of a sudden there were changes in the sources directory and all the file disappeared. There are now only some directories, including Panther and Rollback Now there is a Panther and Rollback directory (before the Rollback was not there). I also zipped them together like before and uploaded them. I added today's date with a subnumber"-1" to the file name to keep track of all the versions. Will try to do another install now, knowing that appraiserres.dll is not there anymore. The windows security window still shows an empty screen. The installation crashed again, before the installation was started (during window getting things ready to install) I also noticed this created now a crashdump (also uploaded, setuphost.exe.12176.dmp) ) so after the EnglishFRST fix, at least the installation started up to 62%, now it crashed before starting installing.

No worries about german, I speak German. Will look into this tomorrow, i‘m in CET and got other obligations this evening

An user says: "Simply deleting appraiserres.dll should also work. At least that worked for me on Thursday with the 22000.65." FYI, after setup.exe is executed, appraiserres.dll will be extracted to "C:$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\appraiserres.dll".

Thanks for the update. We can force Windows to generate a crash dump to see if the dump gives any clues. Download FixList.txt Save Fixlist.txt in the same folder where EnglishFRST64.exe is. Close all program windows. Launch the Farbar Scanner tool and click "Fix". Upload the output log file (FixLog.txt) to your OneDrive. Reboot Windows when prompted. Re-run Setup.exe from the ISO. If the setup crashes, open C:\CrashDumps and share the dump files found in that folder. //I wanted to check if the Windows Defender is switched on, however when I check Window Security, I get an empty window? Does this indicate something// Looks like your system is unprotected right now. If the 23H2 installation succeeds, it should fix Defender automatically. Until then, please disconnect the device from the internet.

Glad it's resolved, albeit it took around 10 attempts :)

You may re-enable the startup items and services. Backup the current set of drivers using DISM, to a folder named c:\drivers_final_2023.

If Device Manager doesn't show any items with the yellow exclamation mark, then no need to install any more drivers.

For the Windows Security issue, please start a new thread and share the link to the new thread here. Will reply to that.
