Hi

I write this in english, to enlarge the potential community.

Windows Update, I get error 0x80070002 when the systems tries to install Windows 11 Version 22H2.

This problem is going on for a long time now.

I tried everything I can found on the internet.

  • setting the time, all good,
  • Deleting the SoftwareDistribution directory,
  • Running scan, and DSIM, all good no errors,
  • Windows update troubleshooter, tells me:

Check for Windows Update issues Detected:

In troubleshooting report it says:

  • check for widows update issues // Resolve Windows Update issue Completed

Glad it's resolved, albeit it took around 10 attempts :)

You may re-enable the startup items and services. Backup the current set of drivers using DISM, to a folder named c:\drivers_final_2023.

If Device Manager doesn't show any items with the yellow exclamation mark, then no need to install any more drivers.

For the Windows Security issue, please start a new thread and share the link to the new thread here. Will reply to that.

Regards,

Just thinking back all the steps we did, before we uninstalled the driver, at least the install process was started.

The driver was the sole reason for the setup failure at 62%. It couldn't be migrated because the driver package had a file missing.

    Log:

Failed to process migration of driver package C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\dptf_cpu.inf_amd64_82b77f8c4618e2d0\dptf_cpu.inf. Error: 0x80070002[gle=0x0000007a]

Reinstall the driver by downloading the installer from Lenovo

Maybe you can reinstall it by downloading the full package from Lenovo. Go to the Lenovo support site and enter your device's serial number. Download and install the latest "Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework (DPTF) Driver" driver.

So why is setup process crashing when we just uninstall the driver? Can we do anything else with the FRST programm to fix?

I killed the cleanup will (in task manager, it was called new setup host)

    I rebooted the machine

Deleted rmdir /S $WINDOWS.~BT in CMD Admin window

To be sure, uninstalled the driver again ( it said, is not installed)

re-ran setup as admin from ISO file,

Same story, the window "Making sure you are ready to install" just closes without notification.

What else can I do? start in safe mode, and install, does it make sense?, is there any other log file from the setup process (Making sure you are ready to install")

The messages in the troubleshooter, do they provide you anything more info?

What did you mean with creating USB?
