Hi Frank, Thank you, and Happy Holidays to you. Unfortunately, I couldn't narrow down the issue, but it's surprising that the reinstallation didn't install the latest security platform update. But I'm glad Norton 360 is protecting the unit, which is more important. No time has been wasted; it has been a good learning experience; that's how I see things. :) Perhaps you could switch to Windows 10 22H2 and see if the Windows Security app works. If you plan to do so, please backup your current configuration using Macrium Reflect or a similar tool. //Quite why Microsoft does not allow people to easily install Windows 11 on such devices is baffling. Although they did publish the registry hack for this themselves sometime ago. This is why 70% still use Windows 10 or lower.// Yeah, there are different kinds of bypass methods. Regardless, I still use Windows 10 on my primary computer and don't plan to switch to Windows 11 as of now.

I really needed to know so I took out the 1TB SSD I put back the original HDD did a clean install of Windows 11 23H2 and Security Works. So it’s definitely not a hardware issue. Thing is I still cannot do a reinstall on the SSD as keep files , settings and apps is greyed out. Any other options to solve this would be appreciated. Ta Frank

See this article ("Gather boot log files") to run a boot trace. In step 3, after restarting Windows, repro the issue by opening Windows Security. Once the issue is reproduced, continue the rest of the instructions. Please zip the PML log so that the file size is reduced by approx 90%. PML logs are huge and it takes a long time to analyze a issue (sometimes in days). Will see if we can find the root cause this time.

Those entries have no significance. Those entries show up in my system as well. You'll see a lot of Not Found entries for any operation you do. Usually, most of those entries have no significance.

You may try this if possible.

Download this REG file and save it to a folder named c:\reg\

Launch AdvancedRun (from Nirsoft) and start cmd.exe as TrustedInstaller.

In the TrustedInstaller Command Prompt, run:

reg.exe import c:\reg\securityhealth.reg
exit

This restores some essential registry keys used by Defender.

Yeah, there are different kinds of bypass methods. Regardless, I still use Windows 10 on my primary computer and don't plan to switch to Windows 11 as of now.
