Last week Microsoft Lvl3 completed the fourth factory restore of my Dell P/C from a flash drive they created. They re-installed Windows 11 and Microsoft Office Student 2021. After the re-install I checked copy and paste, and it was working no issues. I did nothing else with the P/C and left it sit for four days while I was out of town with nobody using it. When I returned after the four days, I woke it up from sleep mode and tested copy and paste, it FAILED. My last discussion with Lvl 3 and engineering they now feel it is a Dell hardware problem. When I run Dell diagnostics it is clean, no issues. I'm running dual monitors and decided to re-boot my P/C and disconnect one monitor, so far, it's been over 24 hours with no issues. I test every few hours and copy and paste is still working. I have been in contact with a local P/C repair and have all my documentation, notes, video's, screen prints and the next time it fails I'm taking it in for them to test. I really don't want to call Dell because my blood pressure will increase while I try to get to a level of support that will listen. With my 45 years of IT experience (Server and Mainframe) I have no time to start over with Dell. Dell did offer support for $90 with no guarantee to fix the problem. I'll keep you posted with any updates.
Why Does Windows 10/11 Copy and Paste Stop Working After A While?
For the last few months my Copy/Paste will stop working after I've been logged-on for awhile. If I log off and back on (no Restart, though), it will start working again... for awhile, that is. It was happening on Windows 10, so I went ahead and upgraded to Windows 11, hoping it would fix the problem, but it didn't.
I've looked through other postings, but most of them involve a Restart, which certainly works but so does a simple log off/log on. I generally don't log out at the end of the day, just lock it. Does anyone have a solution other than creating a whole new profile?
