Why Does Windows 10/11 Copy and Paste Stop Working After A While?

For the last few months my Copy/Paste will stop working after I've been logged-on for awhile. If I log off and back on (no Restart, though), it will start working again... for awhile, that is. It was happening on Windows 10, so I went ahead and upgraded to Windows 11, hoping it would fix the problem, but it didn't.

I've looked through other postings, but most of them involve a Restart, which certainly works but so does a simple log off/log on. I generally don't log out at the end of the day, just lock it. Does anyone have a solution other than creating a whole new profile?

    Another question/observation:

My computer is one where it was bought with Windows 10 Home loaded on it and I upgraded to Windows 11 Home when it became available. I wonder how many people experiencing this issue are on upgraded computers as opposed to ones factory configured with Windows 11. My laptop which is still on Windows 10 (can't support Windows 11) has never shown the issue.

    ... just a thought.

Mine started happening on Windows 10 and would be resolved only by logging-out and then back in. I upgraded to Windows 11, hoping it would resolve it, but it didn't. All results the same.

I started tracking/checking copy and paste after a reboot. I'm finding that there is a pattern, that it stops working after 24-26 hours after a re-boot. After a reboot I would check every couple of hours and document the time it was okay and when it failed. I created a video of my screen actions using Power Point and sent two videos to Level 3 support. I have a conference call with Level 3 on Tuesday., April 9. It's sounding more like a memory leak in their Windows app. Getting closer, LOL.

On behalf of all of us, thank you for persevering with Microsoft.

Just one thing that might be helpful if it IS a memory leak... I started experiencing it on Windows 10, then upgrading to Windows 11, hoping that it would fix the problem. It didn't. So, whatever it is, it didn't change between OS versions.

Your welcome Art. I have over 45 years in IT, mostly Mainframe problem solving for a very large automotive company, very high-pressure job so I have some knowledge on the information they might need to fix the issue. I'm willing to give them the time and information they might need. I think my Level 3 person has now engaged engineering because they make changes to my P/C remotely and let me test for a few days. I have been giving them as much time as possible, sometimes having two - three calls a week. I'll keep this site up to date with their findings.
