Why Does Windows 10/11 Copy and Paste Stop Working After A While?

For the last few months my Copy/Paste will stop working after I've been logged-on for awhile. If I log off and back on (no Restart, though), it will start working again... for awhile, that is. It was happening on Windows 10, so I went ahead and upgraded to Windows 11, hoping it would fix the problem, but it didn't.

I've looked through other postings, but most of them involve a Restart, which certainly works but so does a simple log off/log on. I generally don't log out at the end of the day, just lock it. Does anyone have a solution other than creating a whole new profile?

    All-

Just wanted to post again. I appreciate those of you (Kim-LarryPapp, and others?) who are actively working on this with Microsoft. This was driving me so crazy that I've gotten into the habit of just restarting when I go to be at night, then log back in the next morning each day. I used to not restart for weeks at a time, since I preferred to leave things open that I was working on.

Btw, I'm also a retired IT guy and have spend tons of my life troubleshooting things. Unfortunately, I've had my fair share of unsolved mysteries, so I'm not spending any more time working on this, and I can get that Microsoft is having a hard time finding the cause (if they're really actively working on it at all!). It hasn't happened to me again since I've started the nightly rebooting. But if I hit it again, I'm just going to save and close everything and restart. I refuse to get upset anymore or spend any time trying to get it working again! I'm doing a lot of website programming these days (for free - either myself, family, or nonprofits), copy/paste is frequent.

I have been also seeing this for months, and I figured out that, most of the time, at least, if I go to task manager, restart the explorer.exe application, and then clear the clipboard, it starts working again.. It is driving me crazy..

That's helpful @daniel ... Can you confirm you're using the steps outlined below. Do you know if it matters in what order you do them (i.e. clear the clipboard first then restart Windows Explorer or vice versa).

    1. In Task Manager: Right-click Windows Explorer and select "Restart"

2.a Windows Logo Key + V and hit "Clear All"

    OR

2.b Windows Logo Key + I and clear the clipboard from Systems Setting

I tried doing both the above previously but it didn't fix it for me :(

I had to resort to reboots.
