Why Does Windows 10/11 Copy and Paste Stop Working After A While?

For the last few months my Copy/Paste will stop working after I've been logged-on for awhile. If I log off and back on (no Restart, though), it will start working again... for awhile, that is. It was happening on Windows 10, so I went ahead and upgraded to Windows 11, hoping it would fix the problem, but it didn't.

I've looked through other postings, but most of them involve a Restart, which certainly works but so does a simple log off/log on. I generally don't log out at the end of the day, just lock it. Does anyone have a solution other than creating a whole new profile?

Thank you for the update, copy and paste is still failing on my P/C after that update. I had a call today with Level 3 and engineering they have requested that I collect some more data on my P/C the next time it fails, which will be tomorrow morning.

I began having issues after the

    2024-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5037771) &

    2024-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5036893)

    on 5/19 & 5/18 respectively.

Issues began after a restart. Lost my internet connections settings (LAN & Proxy stuff), now every time I shut down and restart I have to perform reconfigure those.

Now this Copy & Past issue began on 5/21. System seems slower to me as well.

Anyone else having the connection settings changing after restart issue as well?

I am glad you are getting 24 hours of functionality after a reboot. I've rebooted twice already today alone. This is getting worse and worse, and this is my work computer for a home business.
What is wrong with these people?
Back in school, we'd get bad grades if we forgot to check our work for accuracy, and too much inaccuracy would mean failure.

I am so glad it is not just me that has this issue.

For about a month now, perhaps less, after 24 hours the copy and paste functionality in windows fails.

Office, notepad, files and folders ETC all cannot be copy / cut and pasted. However i can right click drag and paste files and folders and i can left click drag text to move it about. So there is a semblance of copy and pasting still available, just no direct access.

To fix it, all i can do is reboot and i am ok again for 24 hours before it fails.

I am using a Lenovo ThinkStation 11th Gen Intel (in case hardware matters).

I have booted my machine, closed everything, waited 24 hours and it still fails.

As an addendum to this, once the copy and paste fails, i can no longer add new bluetooth devices, the windows never appear and the entire system stops working as expected.
