Why Does Windows 10/11 Copy and Paste Stop Working After A While?

For the last few months my Copy/Paste will stop working after I've been logged-on for awhile. If I log off and back on (no Restart, though), it will start working again... for awhile, that is. It was happening on Windows 10, so I went ahead and upgraded to Windows 11, hoping it would fix the problem, but it didn't.

I've looked through other postings, but most of them involve a Restart, which certainly works but so does a simple log off/log on. I generally don't log out at the end of the day, just lock it. Does anyone have a solution other than creating a whole new profile?

Same issue here. Win 11 Pro. CPU Intel gen-13.

After lock over night copy and paste are not working (like 50% of the time), also some services seems to not respond (other 50%) so almost always i need to restart the PC before using it, which is very annoying. Updated all drivers, nothing helped. Turned off efficiency cores - still happening.

On my Laptop, Lenovo, with Gen-11 don't have that issue.

Microsoft level 3 suggested that, and through a remote session they created and ID that I used on my P/C and copy, and paste failed within 24 hours.

Microsoft Level 3 also reformatted my hard drive and did a factory restore, still failed with in 24 hrs. I'm not sure why some people experience the problem and others don't. I have a friend running windows 11 with MS Office and copy and paste works fine, no issues.

Creating a new user profile can help determine if the issue is related to your current user profile. You can do this through Settings -> Accounts -> Family & other users -> Add someone else to this PC.

I agree Art, the problem I'm having is getting Microsoft to read these postings. I have sent them copies and they just focus on my P/C and no other comments. I have another call scheduled on Friday with Lvl 3. I'm taking my P/C and all my notes to a local P/C repair today. I'll post their findings.

This has just got to be a Windows OS issue, doesn't it? I suppose that all of us with the problem could have done/installed the same things on our PCs (and from different manufacturers no less!), but that seems like a HUGE coincidence!

I'm still working around it by just clearing the decks and logging completely out each day, but it's a lot less convenient than when I didn't have to do that.
