Why Does Windows 10/11 Copy and Paste Stop Working After A While?

For the last few months my Copy/Paste will stop working after I've been logged-on for awhile. If I log off and back on (no Restart, though), it will start working again... for awhile, that is. It was happening on Windows 10, so I went ahead and upgraded to Windows 11, hoping it would fix the problem, but it didn't.

I've looked through other postings, but most of them involve a Restart, which certainly works but so does a simple log off/log on. I generally don't log out at the end of the day, just lock it. Does anyone have a solution other than creating a whole new profile?

Add my wife as another user with a brand new Dell with Windows 11 Home pre-installed - which I upgraded to Pro to see if it fixes the problem - that exhibits all the various behaviors in this thread. It seems to focus on MS Office once it begins failing because I can still copy/paste in apps like Notepad.

My wife wants to return the computer and get another computer (or get another husband) thinking it will solve the problem. From the history of this issue, it may not be worth the effort to swap it out and risk the same result.

Thanks for the information, I will pass it on to the P/C specialist that I'm now working with. Not sure why some people have the problem and some users I talk don't experience it. Very strange. Microsoft doesn't seem to think they have a problem, not sure why.

I have a brand-new ACER desktop running Windows 11 and I've had this problem since purchasing it in July 2023. I am so frustrated with this problem that I'm considering switching to Apple As it would appear Microsoft is unable to resolve a glitch created of their own making.

Same issue here. Win 11 Pro. CPU Intel gen-13.

After lock over night copy and paste are not working (like 50% of the time), also some services seems to not respond (other 50%) so almost always i need to restart the PC before using it, which is very annoying. Updated all drivers, nothing helped. Turned off efficiency cores - still happening.

On my Laptop, Lenovo, with Gen-11 don't have that issue.

Microsoft level 3 suggested that, and through a remote session they created and ID that I used on my P/C and copy, and paste failed within 24 hours.

Microsoft Level 3 also reformatted my hard drive and did a factory restore, still failed with in 24 hrs. I'm not sure why some people experience the problem and others don't. I have a friend running windows 11 with MS Office and copy and paste works fine, no issues.
