    I found that the search didn't include the Local Disk C:/ drive, even though it has ALL the files that we are searching for! Here is the easy fix:

    1. Type: windows button + R
    2. Then, type "control panel"
    3. In the top right search box, type "indexing options" and open it.
    4. click the "modify" button
    5. Make sure that Local Disk C:/ is included in the things that the search bar searches.
    6. Then, it will start to scan everything in the Local Disk C:/, which takes some time. ****

    Same for me, it is absolutely crazy.

    I switched to Edge, pasted: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/get-started/azure-portalSigned in with my Work Account (linked to the PC)

    And now the search bar works!!

    I already had the problem of the start/search not working previously and had this same issue now, after a restart of the machine. So, this probably only fixes it for this session. As I do us Azure almost every day, this is a simple quick-fix for me, but it is with increasingly staggering concern to see the quality of Windows 11 go down like this.

    I have alienware r11 and cloned a 2 TB hard drive to a 4 TB hard drive and noticed the same problem after installing the cloned drive. I fixed the problem by using this web site and doing the step highlighted in yellow. How to reinstall Windows 11 using Windows Update (thewindowsclub.com) . "Reinstall your current version of Windows(your app, files and settings will be preserved). Windows Update showed that is was downloading "23H2(repaired)". It took a long time to download and when I was prompted to reset my PC , it reset several times with % complete changing with each reset. When it finally finished and I logged in, everything worked including the Start and Search functions, my Mixed Reality Portal, which was also not working with my VR HP Reverb headset. I lost no apps nor did I have to reinstall any programs.

    Hope this might help others.

    Nothing here worked I have hated this system for a while and now I have a very good reason to go back to win 10
