Windows 11 File Explorer - focus jumps to address bar when creating new folder

Hi. I had the same issue. It has been some months now. Right now, after reading some posts here, playing back and forth with Explorer View Options seems to be working (for now, will see in the next days). Specifically:

1. In the beginning my explorer setting was on the second radio button, "Select the typed item in the view"
2. I changed it to the first radio button, "Automatically type into the Search Box"
3. At this point, the issue did not show up
4. I went back to settings and changed it back again to "Select the typed item in the view"
5. The issue was still not showing up. I left it like this

Let's see how it goes.

It doesn't work if I navigate by directly typing in the search bar. It in fact breaks the fix and the setting needs to be done in the folder options again to fix it. However, I can still navigate up the file tree by clicking on the folders in the search bar as long as I don't enter a file path in text.

Thank you for confirming. This is clearly still a bug that Microsoft needs to address.

The "fix" you've been using simply resets the focus. That's why it "breaks" again when you enter a path in the address bar. Those options are a red herring. You don't even need to change any option. Just bring up the Folder Options dialog and click OK and that's enough.

You can also "fix" the issue by pressing the Tab key until an item is highlighted in the main window (takes about 5 presses). That also resets the focus.

There are two fundamental problems (that Microsoft must fix) in regards to this annoying issue:

1. Clicking on the main window does not change the focus from the address bar to the main window, as it should.
2. Selecting any item from the upper-left "New" menu does not automatically set the focus to the main window, as it should.

Then try New > Folder (from the command bar, not right-click). Does it work correctly?
