How can I get sunset version of Money for my Windows 11

Hi Don,

After Many, MANY hours of trying different methods, I've eventually found a way of importing the data !

I had a few false starts and had to re-try, but basically it boils down to using the account recovery option to import previously exported *.qif files from the old system and effectively doing a complete data migration from the old system to the new.

I had to devise a migration strategy, as the import process can double up on Account Transfer transactions if you are not very careful.

I could not find a way of importing the Regular Bill schedule, so this has to be done manually.

It's not for the feint hearted and does take a while, but if like me you have around 30 years of data in the old version, I thought it was worth the effort

If anyone is interested I have created a word document which fully details the process, but here's the method summary in case it's of use to anyone else.

Method:

• Export the data from each account, one at a time, to a *.qif data file.
• Create all the accounts manually on the new system
• Import these *.qif files.

When importing Account Transfers, the system will try to create both the From (Payment) and the To (Deposit) sides of the transaction. However, as we are importing both accounts separately, it does this for both accounts, which means these account transfers will double up, unless we control this in some way.

We do this in 2 ways :

1. By creating the new accounts with a different name, so the import can’t identify where to post transfers
2. forcing the import to not use the original accounts used on the other side of the transaction and instead force the use of a dummy “Bank Take-on” Account, as the opposite side of the transaction when importing both accounts.e.g.

• You have 2 accounts on the old version of MSMoney  – Account A & Account B.
• There was a transaction for £100 transferring from Account A to Account B
• We create 2 new accounts on the sunset version of MSMoney, accounts XA & XB
• When you import data from Account A, you import it into the XA account. The system will say it has identified a reference to Account B and ask which account you  want to use (as it can’t find an account B), at which point – you identify the newly created dummy “Bank Take-on” Account
• Then, when you import data from Account B, you import it into the XB account. The system will this time say it has identified a reference to Account A and ask which account you  want to use (as it can’t find an account A), at which point – you again identify the newly created dummy “Bank Take-on” Account

This will then effectively just show a Payment transaction on the From Accounts and a Deposit transaction on the To  Account.

Did you do this?

Discard/delete the installer you downloaded and download it again.

https://archive.org/details/MSMoneySunsetClick on WINDOWS EXECUTABLE and download USMoneyDlxSunset.exe.

Right-click that installer and Run as administrator.

And you didn't answer this question.

The file that you're downloading... it's USMoneyDlxSunset.exe right? It's not a ZIP file or a Torrent file.

I have Microsoft Money Sunset on my Widows 10 PC, but I cannot open it as the AUTORUN.INF file is either missing or corrupt.
