How to disable Windows 11 automatic reboots?

Hi,

I have browsed this forum but found so far no real solution:

It has happened to my now several times that I was running tasks over extended periods of time only to come back to my PC the next morning to find Windows 11 had done an automatic reboot! So not only the tasks weren't finished, worse, lots of preparatory work was lost!

I don't want Windows to ever automatically reboot after an update. Never. Ever. Period. I want to be informed about updates, that's fine, and I keep Windows 11 up to date, but under no circumstances ever is it acceptable that Windows just shovels an update on my PC and disrupts overnight tasks and REBOOTS(!) my PC all by itself.

So it would be very helpful if somebody could tell me how to disable these automatic update reboots once and for all. I don't want to "pause" Updates (I absolutely want updates, I just want to control myself when the updates are done) and resetting "work hours" is of no use unless I can set it to 24 hours.

    Is there really no simple way to tell my Windows machine:

    "Never restart unless I explicitly consent"

    Really very stupid if true. As a lifelong Mac user who has recently switched to windows due to price/performance ratio, this is hilariously dumb.

    I have to go into regedit to edit a setting and that doesn't even work?? LOL! Ever heard of check boxes? I can find like 5000 ways to open the start menu or some other bloatware, but any real settings are SO hidden and convoluted. What they say about windows is true...!

    I am testing out disabling modern standby. The user reported his machine yet again rebooted without his knowledge or consent. When I checked the Event Viewer it mentioned being shutdown by modern standby. I found this

    copy and paste this to a command line:

    reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power /v PlatformAoAcOverride /t REG_DWORD /d 0

    The business I currently contract for selectively applies Microsoft updates to their Windows 10 machines, and reboots when and IF they want to reboot. There is no WAY Microsoft offer this policy to customers.

    I want to know EXACTLY what is being updated. I want to know if its a bug, or an enhancement. I want to know whether or not its security related. If so, there better be an RFC update associated with the change. Otherwise Microsoft sold me a defective product, and I'm entitled to a service level refund. one hundred dollars per fix, per week it was broken.

    Still waiting on an actual solution to this as well. I'm tired of losing work and time because of it.
