I agree, I don't want it and I certainly don't want the pay for it.

hiding the icon does not remove an app/program

It is most especially hideous in Word, hovering exactly where my fluttering eye is focused to write beautiful prose and poetry. My super spicy brain cannot handle the extra visual clutter and the constant distraction, and goes against EVERY basic premise in accessible UI design. If you can design Sticky Keys, surely you can disable Copilot! There is no way to disable it in the Accessibility Settings. This is exceptionally terrible and neurotypical design and completely throws my Neurodivergent brain upside down to have to continuously process this - from a software that I PAY big money. STOP DISCRIMINATING AGAINST NEURODIVERGENTS.

I'm going to switch to Apple if copilot stays around. I loathe it and it upsets me every time it appears - it's making me sick.
