If it's any help, this article gives some background to the cause of this issue: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-10-kb5001716-update-fails-with-0x80070643-errors-how-to-fix/

(As discussed earlier in this thread, the issue appears to be that KB5001716 was released in fall 2023 and then somehow released "again" in 2024.)

The fix suggested in that article (ie. uninstalling KB5001716 via "Apps & Features", and then retrying the normal Windows Update process) worked for me -- I now see KB5001716 in my Apps & Features list (again), and Windows Update is no longer complaining / warning me about any pending or failed updates.

(For what it's worth, both before and after the process, Apps & Features showed me as having version 8.94.0.0 of that update, so there wasn't even a different version number between the two releases... 🤷)

Here's what I see in my Apps & Features list (both before, and after, the process -- as expected):

I did just that. They need either fix the new update, remove the old update, or scrap the update all together. By the time I get a new laptop with Windows 11 on it, Windows 12 will be out. If they don't be careful, Microsoft users will become Apple users.
