Hello,
Since yesterday my Windows 11 Start Button is no longer working.
It animates when I click it, but nothing else happens, also, my taskbar keeps switching on and off.
I don't know whether that is relevant or has anything to do with the problem, but two days ago I had Windows updates two days on the trot.
I have tried a number of recommended solutions, like commands in Pwoer shell, sfc /scannow, the DISM commands, updating my graphics drivcer, registry hacks, tried to re-install Windows but gave up when I saw I couldn't keep my files.
In short, none of the above have worked.
The thing is, some things I cannot do, like check my updates etc., as some Windows key commands don't work, eg. Windows + I.
Has anyone got any further advice for me, please?

We have been chasing this problem for quite a while. I suggest creating a restore point once you get your computer working, but yes we have had to re-install on many occasions.
We have had this problem on every brand of computer, so it's not a Dell or Asus problem, it's deffinately a windows issue.
I removed a group policy which prevented apps from running under AppData and it appeared to work for a while, but then the issue propped up again.
Would love some help from MS on this.
The only way I found to get the Start and Search back was to reinstall windows. I lost a few programs and numerous other things, but it had to be done. I cannot understand why microsoft do not concentrate on getting their software stable, rather than trying to beat apple to the latest useless update.
I did every step mentioned here to fix that problem, nothing happened. It's sucks, i keep use the Ctrl + Alt+ Del to shutdown and restart
Since last windows update i had the same problem, start crashed suddenly (the result is that it suddenly disappear after click on start button) and also settings it's impossible to open, it crash like start.
I tried various things but the only one that solved this problem was to rollback the system to the last checkpoint (before the update), but today the system updated again and the problem it's back! I taught Microsoft suspended the bugged update and distributed only security fixes!
Ultimately, I have reinstalled Windows 11 from Settings>System>Recovery>Reset this PC
After reset, it has deleted many applications and few remained intact and my files and folders were untouched. But after some days of starts and shutdowns it again behaves the same way. Click on start icon may or may not opens the menu and icons in start menu won't appear.
