Windows 10 22h2 security update [KB5034441] fails to install with code: 0x80070643 problem was solved for me with reinstallation of Windows 10 using the Media Creation tool . Took about 5 hours . But the security update that has been giving everyone problems downloaded on the second try . I have , over the last 2 days , been checking for updates to see if it really worked and it appears in the control panel as downloaded . I want to thank that guy who suggested that fix . I did not do a clean install . I kept my files and apps

    This worked for me . I used the Media Creation Tool and reinstalled Windows 10 . Microsoft does all the work , All you do is follow the instructions . I did NOT do a clean install . I opted to keep my files and apps but backed them up anyway. It is a time consuming method but you do not have to be a computer expert , because Microsoft does all the technical stuff. I did not read about this at the community . It was another forum for tech issues , but I figured if anyone can fix this then it would be Microsoft ,by installing the latest version of Windows 10 and it did. Try it ! All you have to lose is 5 hours of your life (it's a long process)

    Rebuilding the system is in my view not a fix.

    The issue I am having is that I don’t have a WinRE partition and Windows 10 doesn’t support a WinRE partition on a bit locked disk.

    If you don't have a recovery partition and KB5034441 still fails, Windows RE is disabled. As you can't enable Windows RE on a BitLocker protected partition, you may have to create a recovery one. KB5034441 requires Windows RE enabled.

    That’s my point. So the update shouldn’t be applied. So why is Windows Update trying to apply an inappropriate update? When recovery is disabled and the drive is bitlocked.

    Shouldn’t it detect this and then mark the update as not required instead of trying to apply it and then fail?
