Windows 10 22h2 security update [KB5034441] fails to install with code: 0x80070643 problem was solved for me with reinstallation of Windows 10 using the Media Creation tool . Took about 5 hours . But the security update that has been giving everyone problems downloaded on the second try . I have , over the last 2 days , been checking for updates to see if it really worked and it appears in the control panel as downloaded . I want to thank that guy who suggested that fix . I did not do a clean install . I kept my files and apps

    Disappearing icons is usually associated with an incomplete install. You can try this and you may need to reboot more than once. The result should get better as you go. Reboot the computer whilst holding down the shift key. That will force a full reboot. It will take longer than usual and you may need to do this twice but it should fix itself.

    If this is a laptop, make sure you are on a hard surface that won't block the fan vents and cause overheating.

    If this fails you will probably be having a ram, hard drive or processor issue. For you to be posting this it is probably best to take the box (computer) to a repairer or a knowledgeable friend.

    With Windows Defender it’s real-time protection you’d turn off. There may be and equivalent in your anti-virus.

    Short of a rebuild I don’t know what else to suggest other than living with the update error. Bit of a sledge hammer approach I know, but clearly Microsoft isn’t coming to the rescue on this one.

    Also you could try booting from the install media and running the recovery option. But for me this has always been a waste of time.

    What have you got by way of Anti-Virus?

    Bitdefender. I have tried turning off its Virus Protection and its Advanced Threat Detection (both off at the same time) but it didn't help either.

    I also saw some posts about Samsung Disk Magician, but I'm not using that - and in fact its not even a Samsung drive.

    Additionally, I ran the Windows Update trouble shooter, no luck with that either.

    Sounds odd. Never had that from running a Windows update. I’ve had systems that won’t start, but not what your experiencing.

    May be a good idea to rebuild the PC. Or my second choice in such circumstances, restore your PC from a backup. The latter may re-deploy the issue, which is why I prefer the former.
