2024-10-31T22:05:57+00:00 Will everyone trying to help please stop regurgitating the "go to device manager" or "install the driver" instructions for this specific error
IT DOES NOT HELP ANYONE!!
The camera is NOT detected; therefore, it will NOT show up in device manager, and installing a driver for a nonexistent device is ridiculous.
I've been dealing with this issue for over a year, and now I want to help any of you if I can.
Go to the BIOS of your device - if there is an option to disable the camera (uncheck a box or click the slider):
Disable the camera
Apply Changes
Exit
Go back into BIOS
Re-enable the camera
Apply Changes
Exit
Boot normally into Windows and login
Your camera will be back.
I apologize to anyone who does not have the option to re-enable it in BIOS (for example, these instructions are based on a Dell laptop that allows you to disable/enable), since this is directly related to a faulty Windows driver that Microsoft keeps sending out. They are ignoring the pleas of helpless users with garbage instructions as I mentioned above, even going so far as to blame it on the manufacturers. I'm not a hater of Microsoft, only when there is a world of users with the exact same issue on different devices and nothing is being done to help them.
I hope this helps someone...
