Camera app shows error "0xA00F4244 NoCamerasAreAttached"

Hi every one.

I don't know how, nor why, but my camera started to work today.

I resume my situation:
I have a Lenovo Ideapad notebook with Windows 10 Home edition, and more or less a year ago my camera stopped working.

A month ago I started again to try different solutions without any success. Most of the time the error message was "0xA00F4244 NoCamerasAreAttached", and only sometimes the camera was detected but no app could use it, showing instead a black screen with flahing letters saying "Frontal Camera"...

Trials consisted in following every single pass recomended by Microsoft blogs and Lenovo experts, without any good result. Other trials consisted in installing different camera drivers I found in Lenovo Vantage utility and in Microsoft Driver Catalog.

In all cases before, using Device Manager my Camara was detected as a "SunplusIT", and I've tried installing many (more than 10) camera drivers, new and old ones, and nothing good happened.

Today (August 22, 2024), I was preparing my self to hold a Google Meet meeting using my external web camara wich was not connect yet, and I found my self setting filters and brightness of my Integrated Camera. It was awesome and some-how it was working.

I immediately checked which was the current installed driver and found that it is a Microsoft Diver version 10.0.19041.4355, dated 6/21/2006, and the strangest thing is that my camera is not detected any more as "SunplusIT" but as simple as "Microsoft" camera.

I don't understand what happened, and if this situation is going to last for ever.... today it is working. I wish it will work tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow, and so on... Who knows?

Hi, I read your post sounds good.. but I have no idea how to go about reverting to older drivers nor locating the sensors you mention.

I have an All in One HP Pavillion PC.

According to the Device manager my hardware is a HP 2.0MP high definition webcam (manufactured by Microsoft) and a HP IR Camera but the icons are both grayed out. Clicking on properties, I can see the driver details (none like what you mentioned) and I can Update drivers (done multiple times) and uninstall the device but I am unable to roll back the driver, which is what I feel I really need to do!

I even upgraded to windows 11 thinking that the drivers might sort themselves out but no such luck.

Where do you suggest I go from here in order to a) find the drivers you mention and b) downgrade them?

Since I use Norton Driver Updater, I was able to determine which drivers were updated since the last time I used my camera for a Zoom meeting. When I realized the camera was not being detected (subject of this thread), I just went back through the history of updates by Norton Driver Updater and found the Camera Sensor driver had been updated. Norton Driver Updater allows reverting to a previous version. That fixed the detection issue, but the camera video wasn't being processed. I then found the AVStream driver had also been updated at the same time as the Camera Sensor driver, so I reverted that driver and all was well.

Prior to these discoveries, I checked with Samsung and all they wanted me to do was take the laptop to a service center or replace it with the latest model for nearly what I spent for the laptop to begin with!

You might check the WIndows Update/Update History/Driver Updates to see when an update occurred that stopped the camera from working. However, if you are not using a tool such as Norton Driver Updater, you will likely have to take your laptop to service center that specializes in your brand of laptop.

First, I never understood how you update two drivers on the same device. The Camara Driver and the AVStream driver. What's more, I don't know what the AVStream driver is (my language is Spanish. It's probably a translation problem). On my Lenovo Ideapad with my SunplusIT camera the only thing I see to update is the "Integrated Camera" driver.

Anyway, I managed to find a catalog of Microsoft camera drivers (https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=windows%2010%20camera%20driver) and there are dozens of drivers available for each year. Since I no longer remember when exactly my camera stopped working, I have installed random drivers from different years ago (2017, 2018), but have not had success yet.

I have also tried installing software like "DriverIdentifier", although it confirms that my driver is outdated, it updates it, but it does not solve the problem.
