How do I stop "Show news and interests on the taskbar" from turning on?

Whenever I turn off the "Show news and interests on the taskbar" setting, it eventually turns itself back on. While it is off, it works properly, disappearing from my taskbar. But then around 10 minutes later, it reappears on my taskbar with the setting being turned back on.

    I cannot change the registry, even as administrator.

    I have the same issue. And have tried many of the steps listed above including the DISM,exe staps. Nothing has worked.

    In W11, the current problem is that snap has a default PNG and you have to manually change it to JPG each time. Once W11 remembered the last setting. Damn Windows. Democratic dictatorship.

    Thank you for the update. Please try performing a clean boot to see if the issue persists in that state.

    A "clean boot" starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with the issue

    Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and Hit OK.

    On the Services tab of System Configuration, check Hide all Microsoft services

    Click Disable All. Select Apply.

    On the Startup tab of System Configuration, click Open Task Manager.

    On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each Enabled startup item, select the item and then click Disable.

    Close Task Manager

    On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK.

    Reboot your PC.
