How do I stop "Show news and interests on the taskbar" from turning on?

I don't believe this is "inadvertently" happening. This is Gates' push of misinformation and disinformation being spread in his news ticker.

Thanks for checking. Please try the following for further troubleshooting:

1. Try restarting Windows Explorer:

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Under the "Processes" tab, scroll down and look for "Windows Explorer."
Right-click on it and select "Restart."

2. Run the SFC and DISM tools to repair system-corrupted files that may be causing the issue.

On your search bar, type CMD, then right-click on the result and run as administrator.

Copy and paste the commands one at a time below, then press Enter:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

sfc /scannow

Restart your PC then check

I did everything listed and the setting is still being changed. When I reset Windows Explorer, I think it began switching more frequently. It returned to the normal timing when I restarted the computer.

There are many problems with default windows settings not working. win shouldn't force anybody to use any features while giving supposed option to opt out.

Same problem. Spent countless hours trying to resolve it, never was able to find a solution. No matter how many times I turn off the "News and Interests" feature on the taskbar, Microsoft always turns it right back on.

As stated earlier in this thread, this is a knowing, intentional, unwanted and unauthorized contact to outside services, that Microsoft appears to be using to force windows users to be exposed to news articles and issues politically slanted the way Microsoft feels is correct, with ZERO regard to the wants, desires, or security concerns of Microsoft's users.

This is Microsoft as "Big Brother", forcing your computer to display what Microsoft wants, instead of letting the computer owner use their own computer the way THEY want.
