Windows 11 - Can't switch out of S mode

Hi, yeah it's frustrating. Well for me I installed updates, reboots, made sure I was logged into the Windows store, all of the red herrings that the rest of the Internet told me to do. None of it worked. You can try doing all that, but probably won't matter.

What I did was just waited. Not like wait 1 minute. I mean, trying, waiting a few hours or trying it again the next day. For me when I tried it the next day it finally worked. None of the b.s. that any of the Internet said to do worked. I just tried again the next day and it finally worked.

Yeah, I don't know. This was a couple months ago I did this for a new laptop for my mother-in-law. Like I said, I did install updates and log into the Windows store, reboot, all that stuff. If it's still not working maybe try doing all that. Then I just waited and tried it again the next day and it finally worked for no apparent or explainable reason.

This whole thing is such a complete embarrassment to Microsoft, it's unbelievable. I don't think they should even have Home and Pro editions of Windows, much less this idiotic S mode. Just one, complete version of Windows. Apple doesn't split MacOS up into different variations. It's stupid and it confuses the market, and then it leads to this problem where you buy a computer, you don't realize it comes with S mode, and then you have to jump through these hoops.

They do all this great cutting-edge AI work, etc., etc., then they screw up on the most basic blocking-and-tackling decisions. Hard to understand.

Why does this "Something happened and we couldn't start the upgrade" always come up?

I think that's kinda what this whole entire thread is about, isn't it? You're basically just re-asking the original question.
