So bought a new HP laptop yesterday. 3/26/25. Must have restarted 25 times and tried activation. 24 times it said no. 25 hours after booting it up, it allowed me to delete S mode. Patience gang. Kevin was right.

When I follow the steps in the Microsoft Store to try to switch out of S mode, all I get is a message:
"Something happened and we couldn't start the upgrade"
and a Try Again button.
