Windows 11 - Can't switch out of S mode

Thanks Kevin for describing your experience. I'm glad you got your problem resolved. As for me, none of the remedies in this thread worked until I tried disabling secure boot in the bios. After re-booting I went to the activation tab under settings to try to switch out of S mode and low and behold windows 11 home mode was already enabled! I rebooted to the bios and re-enabled secure boot, re-started to windows and checked the activation window and home mode was still active. problem solved. Hope this method works for others too!

The same thing happened to me THREE TIMES! On three different computers from different stores. I'm about to pull my hair out. None of the so-called solutions are effective in allowing me to switch out of S Mode.

This is an outrage that Microsoft has allowed such a bug to prevail without fixing it.

(I ordered a laptop with Windows Pro, thinking I'll avoid the S Mode problem altogether. You know what? It arrived with Windows Home S Mode installed!

To say I'm at my wits' end is an understatement. Effectively, I'm unable to purchase a new computer with Windows 11. They all suck!

What ended up working for me was just waiting a day. The next day I was able to switch out of S mode. No idea why. Good luck to all.

How do you disable fast boot? Thanks in advance for your help.

Had the same issue, what finally worked for me was to disable "fast boot", then shutdown, then start back up. After that, the first attempt to switch out of "S mode" succeeded.
