Trying this one now. Thank goodness I have fibre. 36 minutes downloading , installation in progress. Fingers very crossed!
I'm very cross with Microsoft, contacted them yesterday, no reply!
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
When I follow the steps in the Microsoft Store to try to switch out of S mode, all I get is a message:
"Something happened and we couldn't start the upgrade"
and a Try Again button.

I was super mad at Microsoft. Even Lenovo staff could not resolve the issue. The easy solution is to go to registry and disable a service which I found on google. And it worked. Took less than a minute to solve this issue. Feels like Edge browser is really struggling to make their browser a monopoly and won’t let even Users to use Chrome or download any other softwares
Thank you, but, NO, that did not work. still the same message.
I am in my second day of trying!
I share the same story as you all; new computer with this "S Mode" monopoly BS being forced on everyone. Obviously they do this on purpose and it's really underhanded! I was on the verge of returning it. Never had this problem with any other computer before. This incident is going to piss people off so bad they may want to switch to Apple like me! After hours of doing 1000 hacks given by the the "professionals" none worked. This thread was the most helpful by far thanks to regular people sharing their experiences of trial and errors. The only thing that worked was to reinstall Windows in settings. This takes a long time but was the only thing that worked. After the computer restarts I returned to the Windows Store and removed S Mode no problem.
IT WORKED!! WAHOOO! CURSE MICROSOFT AND THEIR TYRANICAL S MODE!
I do not believe you. Are you a MS plant?
