Windows 11 - Can't switch out of S mode

When I follow the steps in the Microsoft Store to try to switch out of S mode, all I get is a message:

"Something happened and we couldn't start the upgrade"

and a Try Again button.

    If I'm being honest, it seems like a bad attempt to get people to use their service and not others.

    same experience. I did nothing new, simply tried one last time and as you say, soaked for 24 (or slightly less) hours then it took. Just download preferred browser.
    Appreciate all the folks here who are helping each other.

    Just wait 24 hours. For me it works. All the other things nope.
