I would like to share my experience regarding the issue mentioned above.

I have an older Dell OptiPlex 9020 with the following configuration:

• Intel Core i7 4770 @ 3.40GHz (original)
• 0PC5F7 motherboard (Q87 chipset, original)
• 32 GB of DDR3 RAM (2x SK Hynix HMT41GU6MFR8C-PB, original, and 2x Micron Technology 16JTF1G64AZ-1G6E1)
• Western Digital WDS100T2B0A-00SM50 SSD
• HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GHB0N optical drive (original)
• AMD Radeon HD 8550 OEM GPU (original)

Despite its age, this PC still performs well for many tasks. A week ago, I decided to do a budget upgrade. Among various YouTube videos, the "2020 Dell Optiplex GPU Upgrade Guide" by RA Visuals was particularly helpful. After researching the market for used GPUs, I purchased a used Nvidia GTX 1650 Super. It arrived a day ago, and I installed it in my PC, powering it with a SATA to 6+2 Pin Power Cable (as recommended in the video). Initially, everything seemed fine. I installed the latest drivers from Nvidia (version 555.99) and noticed that the CPU cooler was running at high RPMs and became noisy.

In its original configuration with the AMD GPU, it was relatively quiet. Additionally, I encountered some user permission issues in Windows 10 Pro, which led me to the event viewer and the error mentioned in this topic.

I tried various solutions, including permission workarounds and memory checks suggested by other users, but none were successful.

After some troubleshooting, I found on the Nvidia website (https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us) that you can download the standard (non-DCH) driver. I tried the latest one (dated September 20, 2021), and it completely resolved the nvlddmkm issue. It has been 8 hours with no issues, and games are running well. However, the CPU fan still operates at higher RPMs, and the CPU temperature remains around 70-80°C. When I open Task Manager, CPU utilization drops below 20%, and the temperature falls to 40°C. Unfortunately, after 2-3 minutes, Task Manager crashes, and CPU utilization rises again. I am planning to reinstall Windows to see if that resolves the issue.

Based on my experience, it appears that the problem may be related to Nvidia's DCH drivers.

Hello, any updates? I also had this error once so far. I was having short freezes for few weeks during watching streams or YouTube I think could be related to this very exact nvlddmkm error. Video freezes for few seconds but the sounds continue and then fixes alone. But yday i had first very scary issue. While watching stream without having game or anything open, just Chrome and HWMonitor the Chrome freezed and screen goes black. After seconds it restored but i opened event viewer and saw nvlddmkm error. My GPU is half year old RTX 4060Ti AERO 16gb. Now im scared if is GPU hardware failure.

What I did is to roll back to 537.58 after DDU in safe mode. Previously, when problem started i was using latest drivers. I noticed that this video freezes started from last 2 versions. So i have small hope to be driver bug. But still worried about my GPU. Btw in games i haven't had problems. Only when watching. Now i need few days to test , too early to say if this old driver solved the problem

Last thing, my temps are fine reaching 75c hotspot in Cyberpunk. When idle while watching streams is 40ish, under 50c for sure
