Not an in place Windows upgrade where you keep settings and files. A reformat erases your drive and reformats it and instyall a clean install of WIndows.

hey, i've been having the same issue and i've compeletely reformatted from a usb twice and still hasnt fixed.
gpu was running fine untill a few days ago
what i've done:
reinstall all drivers (with ddu) check event viewer (tons of errors from nvidia drivers) take out and put back in my ram, tested my ram reinstalled windows from a flash i've took my gpu on and put it back in agian to see if that helps but also no i've underclocked my gpu, i've turned down my ram speed updated bios changed some stuff from nvidia control panel gpu isa 4060 ti 8gb vram 14600kf 2x 4800 hz 16g ram

Just to state my situtaion

Have a Giabyte 4090 since Jan 2023, Was running smooth untill November last year.

First error is with FC24, with DX error, DEVICE-HUNG. Did any thing you can find online, finally down the GPU clock speed by -200mhz fix the issue.

At that time only FC24 have issue. but as time goes, more and more games start to crash. Usaully with UE and DX12.

So i have to downclock my GPU more and more, now it can only run games like FC25, Black Myth, PUBG etc, if i downclock the GPU by -900mhz. which is just crazy.

I 've thinking it was a 13-14 gen CPU thing, change a new CPU, not working, limit the CPU votage to 1.3, not working.

Changed the RAM, not working, tested many nvida drives, not working.

And because looks lilke my situtaiton is getting worse overtime, (from -200mhz to -800mhz), i think it might be a GPU thing, planning to sent the GPU to Gigabyte see if it is a GPU memory thing（i heard that might be the issue）

yo what up I've been having the same problem for the past 6ish months and have found no permanent fix (and believe me I've done most of the common things people say to do) the driver only crashes when I play Final Fantasy 14 and Warframe, it has never crashed with anything else

now I am ordering a new stick of ram to test and see if it is ram as some have said before

I was also wondering if it could be caused by me using my second monitor to play games and not the laptops monitor as the second monitor is about 4 years older than the laptop and not able to get remotly the max Hertz or frames the built in display can

What, if any, troubleshooting have you already done?

Did you test after your initial install of WIndows? Or did you go and update everything including drivers?

I originally did an in place upgrade, i.e. I kept all settings and such but reinstalled Windows. That did not work for me, but then I did a full reformat, deleting evrerything and only installed Nvidia drivers from WIndows Update.
