I am also facing the same issue. Over the past few months, there have been other people reporting similar problems, and I believe it is more likely a software issue rather than a hardware problem. I have tried various solutions so far, but have not been able to resolve the issue as of now.
The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found
Hello,
I have been plagued by countless annoying random game crashes the past months with my pc with all pointing out to this error (from event viewer) when they occur: "The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
\Device\00000092
Reset TDR occurred on GPUID:100
The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table"
Have tried numerous possible solutions already from forums, but with no luck.. Fortnite and many other games crash after random intervals. Can anyone suggest a solution for this?
My specs are the following:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400F CPU @ 2.90GHz
Installed RAM G-SKILL F4 3200-C16 32,0 GB DDR4
GPU EVGA GTX 980 Superclocked ACX 2.0
Drives Patriot M.2 P300 512GB and Seagate Hybrid HDD 4TB
Motherboard GIGABYTE H510M H V2
Microsoft Windows 11 Professional (x64) Build 22631.3593 (23H2)
Have to note that i recently replaced almost all parts from the pc due to a previous motherboard burnout which killed many components, expect the PSU (which was repaired by the technician) and GPU (which the technician said was saved from the burnout) and the Hybrid HDD (have this HDD since 2016). Apart from this, i restored my windows partition through Macrium Reflect image backup (from the Hybrid HHD saved backup).
Thanks in advance for any possible solutions to this, if any!

2024-07-27T20:15:55+00:00 Hi everyone
I have the same issue as well, nvlddmkm error code with 153. Especially in Elden Ring, game suddenly freezes and its like game still working since I can still hear the sound of game is going on with frozen screen, after 7-8 seconds game closes and send me back to desktop. After that error log says “nvlddkm stopped working but recovered succesfully”
I have tried everything mentioned above the topic and yet it still keeps crashing idk what else I can do. My pc specs as below:
Msi suprim rtx 4070ti
Msi tomahawk motherboard
Gskill ripjaws ddr4 ram (16x2)
İntel i7 13700kf processor
Samsung ssd evo
I am thinking about neither phisical damage nor something went wrong with Gskill rams. Dont know what else might be. I measured pc specs at crush moments btw here is one example below:
- Gpu usage 48% / Gpu temp 50 Celsius
- Cpu usage 10% / Cpu temp 69 Celsius
- Ram usage 11585 mb
- Fps was 60 / game was Elden Ring

2024-08-02T06:53:16+00:00 Hello EVERYONE!!!
As I hardly ever play games on my computer and the freezing mostly occurs when I'm away (e.g. YouTube video paused) (so actually when idle), I would like to test the other side, namely when the computer is really busy, in the case of the people here whose computers freeze when they're gaming.
As I obviously don't want to buy a game specifically for this, here's my question...
Can anyone recommend a free benchmark software and possibly settings that I can use to recreate YOUR causal cases?
Perhaps one or two people have already tested this problem with benchmark software.
By the way, I spent a whole day testing my RAM with memtest, 13 runs and errors!
Thank you very much
