It could be that the error has extremely different causes.
Because when I compare my configuration, it has nothing to do with your issue.
I don't use any extra cables. Neither PCIe riser cables nor extra power supply cables.
I don't play games on this PC enough (not for months, and when I do, it's older games like Battlefield)
I have the problem (freezing and later seeing error 153 several times in the event log) when my computer is idle for a while. Unfortunately (or maybe it's a good thing), this happens very rarely.
I always put my PC into energy saving mode (except of course every now and then and after updates etc. when I restart it), because I often have to get to work quickly...just as a side note.
...so I just want to say that Err 153 / Freezing / nvlddmkm probably doesn't necessarily have anything to do with load (gaming), nothing directly with various non-original cables or the like.
