The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found

Figured I'd give my input. Asus z790-f mobo, zotac 4090, i9-14900k. I've swapped ram, I've installed a new cpu. Completely wiped pc and no matter what this error comes and goes with different updates. Everyone keeps claiming it to be a failing card yet it passes all stress tests and benchmarks and only crashes when playing CoD. Changing permissions, rolling back drivers, messing with bios only temp fixes the crashes until windows or CoD forces an update. Then I'm right back to square one with 5-10 Event id 153 popping up in event viewer causing my entire pc to freeze and even bsod at times. I have verified this to be software as I have a 6 year old pc with a 1080ti and i7 experiencing the exact same error except it has not crashed. I'm almost 100% sure it came with one of the big windows update 23H2 type updates since they're the only ones that update automatically with windows. All of my other drivers are only updated when absolutely required. I tried rolling nvidia back to October of last year both game and studio ready drivers, Tried multiple bios flashbacks. Underclocked my system, Set power limits, tried a different monitor. Hopefully someone figures out the magic fix because I will not be buying another gpu just to have this issue happen 6 months later.

I'm having the same exact error message, and another one while playing overwatch 2. I have a new RTX 4060, upgrading from a GTX 1080. While the 1080 was working perfect 2 weeks ago, I'm having not this issue with a Brand new ASUS RTX 4060. Stress test passed without any issues, temps are fine lower than 65c for both CPU and GPU. Already attempted DDU, manually removing all the Nvidia drivers, and same issue. New Nvidia drivers were installed, the most recent ones 560.70, and same issue. So It's hard to say that this is a hardware issue, when everything points to drivers issues, and no problems reported while stressing the GPU. So who fault is this, don't know, but what I know is that this problem needs more attention from both MS and Nvidia, as we are spending lots of $$$ for new videocards, and we are having this problem all the time, with no official resolution.

I hardly believe it's an hardware issue. It has to be a software conflict triggered by either Microsoft, ASUS or NVIDIA. If it was an hardware problem, my GPU would've failed on every game, suffer on performance loss and show artifcats. (Which is not the case for me)

I've had a flickering screen when playing games on my laptop. I wasted months trying to find for a solution and contact Intel Support, but after playing around with the Intel Command settings I was able to completely fix the issue.

What I just said might not make sense for an IT specialist, but I am sure that this problem is triggered by a software. My graphics card works as it did almost 3 years ago. The only problem is the random "nvlddmkm" crash, which started for me since 2023. And who should be responsible for all this? The tech-companies who are shoving unstable driver updates, BIOS updates and all sorts of stuff into our computers and damage them.

Error states "The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

Hello everyone.

I have been troubled by this problem for a long time. It seems to come and go.
I have tried almost all the solutions you have listed in this thread but with no result.
The system crash would always come back at some point. The problem I had is system crash with no time for blue screen or sometimes many freezes before crashing. Always while playing a demanding game. Recently Elden Ring and heavily modded Skyrim.
Specs: 5800X3D on Asus Strix x570 e gaming, 32GB ram and a Gigabyte 2070super.

Long story short I am a computer technician and since the nvidia power adapter fiasco I had some intruding thought about my custom cables.
I switched them with the original provided from the psu, as a hail Marry and voila! I am gaming crash free for the last two days. With no sign of hiccups!

Please try my solution and let me know of the results. I hope that it will help you.

NOTE: DO NOT USE A SINGLE CABLE FOR MORE THAN ONE PCI-E SOCKET.
