Unable to install Windows 11 Update Version 23H2 (KB5036980)

I've been repeatedly trying to install this update, but each time I try to launch the update, it will suddenly stop at 96% and tell me there was something wrong with the install and my PC files would return to the previous "un-updated" state.

I've tried every method I could easily find online (Removing all non-essential hardware, did clean boot into Windows, et cetera.), but none of them fixed the isue and I'm suspecting it's a deeper, less common issue.

I found the video to help fix the windows 11 23h2 issue. You need to watch the video to follow steps 1-3

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-ILwvARHVo

After going thru the first three steps in the video to help fix the issue and going then finally going to the windows software download site for the Windows 11 installation Assistant. By doing that it actually worked and helped get the windows 11 23h2 to finally update. Click on the download now for the windows 11 installation assistant.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11

it not only updated the windows 11 version 23h2 but it also updated the windows 11 version 24h2

I had the same problem. Did everything that was on the internet. Use Microsoft install assistant and had two version of windows 11 in the same volume. Solution: complete backup and fresh install that wipes everything. Copy backup and all good.
