Why we can't move the taskbar in windows11. Can we bring the updates in this version, to move the taskbar position?

This design choice eliminated accommodation for those wearing bifocals who sit more an arm's distance from the monitor and/or have multiple monitors. Having the task bar at the bottom means I must lower my head enough to read the taskbar with the top portion of my bifocals, or continuously refocus between distance and close vision for an item that isn't moving. Until a third-party workaround is available, those with this disability (which wasnt disabling until this feature change) will be singled out as NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH.

I have been a long-term Windows user and Microsoft customer.

For many years the taskbar location feature was a prominent user enabled action and was used extensively by many power users to enhance their productivity.

People, especially power users, move the taskbar to the location they know improves their work processes, top and side, and yes, some still use the bottom, but those who do are not typical of the power user groups.

Why are people who use the bottom taskbar not in the PU group? Because the bottom task bar is counter-productive to move down 3/4 the distance of your workspace rather than moving up, or left, 1/4 the distance from your working position on that workspace.

Those movements are 1) time consuming, and 2) counter to reducing repetitive motion injuries. A majority of the people diagnosed with carpal-tunnel syndrome, a repetitive motion injury syndrome, use motions that are counter to effective actions. When these patients have the option to relocate how they work, they have vast improvements in their range of motion and injurious actions.

Having the taskbar on the top, by default, would follow EVERY application that Microsoft offers, other than the operating system. Why else are the application Ribbon and Quick Launch bars located at the top of the workspace, the same hold true for EVERY WEBBROWSER?

So in addition to providing a very common sense oriented reason, Microsoft would be maintaining its own product and application standard.

The very feature of locating the Taskbar remains in the Windows 11 registry, it is simply the functional configuration that is missing from the Settings. Those of use who are quality users of both operating systems and applications have observed the "capability" of relocating the task bar to remain as a data setting in the Registry. In fact it has been published for users who have control over their OS, the screen structure and includes the 4 values for task bar location; 0, 1, 2, and 3 with the default being 3 (bottom of screen).

This is a very surprising stall by Microsoft, who had this feature issue reported in mid-2021 to have not come up with a simple solution yet.

Please add this quite simple system feature back into an update, versus waiting another 4 years to recognize why people are trying and not migrating to Windows 11.

Same here. THIS IS WHY PEOPLE DON'T UPDATE SOFTWARE, because stuff like this gets changed. I only finally allowed the upgrade because I had a vague idea that security updates might be compromised.

Is it possible to roll back to Windows 10?

This is a useless response. The taskbar is intrusive to programs. i.e. I use AutoCAD. the taskbar gets in the way of the Status Bar. Moving to the taskbar to the top of the screen is the solution. Why? What possible legitimate reason can there be for limiting this timeless ability? Lazy? more coding? Boss won't pay over time? ****

This is completely unbelievable and unacceptable!! I have been using top taskbar since I can recall using mouse driven operating system. All previous versions of windows allows this and all GUI Linux distributions as well. Hopefully the microsoft team will make this feature back shortly, if not I plan to change all my PC OS to Linux for this exact reason...
