Why we can't move the taskbar in windows11. Can we bring the updates in this version, to move the taskbar position?

I've had my Taskbar at the top since Win95, this is extremely frustrating that such a simple yet vital option has been removed.

It's very annoying and counter productive, being forced to work with Win11 at work. Definitely not upgrading my home 10 regardless of the lifecycle conclusion in 2025.

There are functional and ergonomic reasons to move the taskbar. IMO the most useful taskbar position is at the top because everything we do happens on the top 1/3rd of the screen. File menus bookmarks, address bar, minimize, x-out, browser navigation, on and on I can go. However, if I want to interact with the OS I have to drag my mouse all the way down to the bottom. If I want to check what app are open, see the time, date, widget info, I have to look at the complete opposite side of the monitor that I spend 80% of my day looking at.

In a 16:9 the majority of the screen real estate exists on the sides. Makes sense but I don't care but the bottom is the stupidest of all places for the taskbar to be located. Microsoft only put it at the bottom to make it different from Apple and Unix so they could file copyright. Just ask Bill.

Please for us efficiency freaks, let us move it to the top!

I'll add my voice to the chorus and here is why:

1. The laptop I am using has plenty of width but not so much height (1920x1080). I can't afford to lose vertical space but I've got plenty of width.
2. More importantly it is a touch laptop and the natural way for me to use it (as right-handed) is to have a permanent taskbar on the right and click it with my thumb.
3. I also have a Surface Go2 where it is even more important. It is almost impossible to press the taskbar at the bottom of the screen due to proximity to the keyboard - so it goes in the right as with my (work) laptop.

For this reason I downgraded my Surface Go2 to Windows 10 where I can put the taskbar on the right and also use Tablet mode while the keyboard is connected. Windows 11 continues the long wrecking of the touch experience since the demise of Windows 8. Perhaps if Microsoft made a tablet PC with a keyboard that made it difficult to press the taskbar they may have understood the problem... (Oh wait - their whole premium line of 2-in-1s suffer from this self-inflicted fail!)

ADD ME TO THE LIST OF PEOPLE FURIOUS AND OUTRAGED AT MICROSOFT'S LACK OF ACTION!
I have used Windows for well over 15 years now.

Why they remove our ability to move the taskbar is beyond me.. I just laughed it off when Windows 11 dropped, I figured they would return this functionality well before Windows 11 became mainstream...

years later and not only have they done 0 to return the ability of moving the task bar... THEY'VE MADE IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX THEIR ISSUE FOR THEM USING REGISTRY EDITS!!!
Now the only real way of having your taskbar be moved in 2024 on Windows 11 is via 1 of 2 third party software providers who CAN DO THIS.
If there was some legit issue preventing the taskbar from being moved on Windows 11, tell me why I've been using Startallback for the past 1.5 years WITH NO ISSUES WHAT SO EVER. Taskbar is on the right of the screen and guess what Microsoft.. IT WORKS. I'm astonished at Microsoft's inability to act on this issue.

My office is now forcing all of us to upgrade to Windows 11 and it's taking an arm and a leg to get IT to approve the startallback software on a work laptop. THIS ISSUE IS 1000000% THE FAULT OF MICROSOFT AND NOONE ELSE. FIX IT BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE MICROSOFT.

People will be furious when the work laptops they've used for decades no longer is covered by Microsoft's security enterprise updates, and they are forced into this Windows 11 limbo.

If I'm sitting with my laptop in tablet mode for drawing in my lap, the taskbar has to be at the top because if it's at the bottom on a touchscreen then everything keeps getting 'clicked' unintentionally. Have been waiting forever to get a new laptop, so excited, spent a lot of money, now devastated to discover something so fundamental now isn't an option. Why is it so hard to give people the choice? Really disappointed.
