Why we can't move the taskbar in windows11. Can we bring the updates in this version, to move the taskbar position?

Our org recently upgraded to Win 11, and so far my experience with Win 11 has been fine except for this unfathomable change.

I've hade a left taskbar for a couple of decades and find it essential for my productivity at work. I have so many things going on at any given time - numerous apps, PuTTY sessions, docs, mail, etc. The left taskbar enabled me to view a list of my open items, with their name, so I could navigate between them easily. Not having this is really a disaster. I used to use DisplayFusion for multi-monitor left-side taskbars until Windows got good at it, but my org no longer allows people to install third party software so I don't have a fallback any longer.

It's hard to comprehend why this capability was removed, and I sure hope they bring it back. There is no good alternative for working with a lot of open items.

Bring it back! Mac has it right. All other menus are at top so we should be able to have task bar at top. Basic UX. For me it's also an issue of my repetitive stress injury. More mouse movement is tough on me. This hard design feature makes it harder for people with disabilities to use Windows. Nice work Microsoft!

The inability to move the taskbar in Windows 11 is a deliberate design choice by Microsoft. In Windows 11, the taskbar is fixed at the bottom of the screen, and there are no built-in options to relocate it to the top, right, or left sides of the screen. This change was implemented by Microsoft developers during the redesign of Windows 11, and the option to move the taskbar has been removed from the settings.

Did they ask the users about this? Obviously not, as there are a couple threads in here about this feature taken away and how annoyed folks are even 3 years after the Win 11 launch. How can we get the movable taskbar added as a feature or on the roadmap? Is there a link to feature requests you know of?

I truly hate this "change"! I need it at the top for many reasons, ergo being at the bottom of that list.

Seriously - think about this:

Edge Tabs - top of the app
Office Controls - top of all apps

Teams controls - Left side of app

One Note - tabs at top or side of app

Please allow us to move the taskbar again. This is a pain in the #$%@$

Not being able to move the taskbar to the side of my screen is probably the most annoying update Microsoft has ever done. Ever. And there is a long list of annoying things.
