Why we can't move the taskbar in windows11. Can we bring the updates in this version, to move the taskbar position?

What I don't understand is why they did this?

Somewhat absurd that we have to use registry editor to get a feature back that Microsoft seems to decide goes against their brand, but if this saves the oleds, I am very appreciative.

It doesn't look like teh 00 and 02 values align properly in windows 11 because side alignment does not seem to function anymore, but switching between 01 and 03 every few weeks will definitely save some oled time.

here the solution to your problem as I.

Warning: Modifying the registry can cause system instability if not done correctly. It's recommended to back up the registry before making changes.

1. Open the Registry Editor:
   • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
   • Type regedit and press Enter.
2. Navigate to the Following Path:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects3
    Copier
   

3. Modify the Settings:
   • In the right pane, look for the Settings value and double-click it to edit it.
   • You will see a series of hexadecimal values. The relevant value for taskbar position is in the second line of data.
4. Change the Taskbar Position:
   • Modify the second line (usually the first byte) as follows:
     • 00: Taskbar on the left side of the screen.
     • 01: Taskbar at the top of the screen.
     • 02: Taskbar on the right side of the screen.
     • 03: Taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
5. Apply the Changes:
   • After making your change, click OK.
   • Close the Registry Editor.
6. Restart Windows Explorer:
   • You can restart Windows Explorer to apply the changes without rebooting:
     • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
     • Find "Windows Explorer" in the list, right-click it, and select "Restart."
7. Check the Taskbar Position:
   • After restarting Explorer, check if the taskbar has moved to your desired position.

I understand your frustration, and I'm here to provide information as a fellow Microsoft user. In Windows 11, the taskbar is designed to be aligned at the bottom of the screen by default. This design choice was made by Microsoft.

Currently, you can only change the taskbar alignment from the default "Center" to "Left" by going to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors.

Yes, please send feedback. Microsoft should really reconsider the features it removes during their version changes. Maybe get feedback BEFORE launching new versions. This is one of the main reasons why the public is often reluctant to hop on the "New Version" band-wagon! As a matter of fact I'm contemplating moving over to a Linux based OS. I've been a faithful Microsoft user and supporter for 3 decades. Now, I'm tired of Microsoft not considering input from it's user's and shoving it down throats by killing support for Windows 10. We are who counts in the end.
