Why we can't move the taskbar in windows11. Can we bring the updates in this version, to move the taskbar position?

I want my taskbar on the left, not the bottom. The display is already to short and wide. need more usable height. Taskbar just takes up too much space.

I, too, are keen to join in on this feedback! Most ergonomic assessments recommend the taskbar be moved to the top or side of the screen to prevent people having further neck issues by looking down all the time! I have neck issues and it helps me significantly to have the taskbar at the top of the screen (or right side).

YES, PLEASE ADD MY COMMENT. I've had taskbar vertically aligned on left side of my monitor for some time, more efficient for me and the way I work. What is the purpose of removing this capability to personalize the taskbar? As as shareholder since 1987, MICROSOFT has always emphasized more power and personalization in the hands of the end user. This would be easy to fix, I'm thinking. The removal of this feature in Windows 11 is terrible idea and must be provided quickly in the next upgrade or with a patch. Unbelievable fumble by MICROSOFT on this one.

OneNote is far less a program than when I first started using it. And now Windows 11, won't let the taskbar be moved???

On a small laptop screen, my vertical space is more important than my horizontal space. So yeah, scroll more and use the mouse more - makes so much sense (NOT!)

Except half the time, it won't hide which renders certain apps unfunctional! Like when the send button on an email is hidden under the taskbar that refuses to budge (hide like it's supposed to.) So then I need to manipulate what windows are showing, minimize windows, all manner of stunts so I can click a button!

Tried to find an answer. Someone suggested explorerpatcher from Github which now comes with a warning that Microsoft will treat it like a virus. Well played MS. You killed the PIM market many years ago. If you can't buy it, you kill it. Antitrust? MS - the innovation killers.

Wow, this is such a productivity squash. How/who could ever think this was a great idea to lock the task bar to bottom of the window??? Epic failure in design decision. I live in a virtual world of managing VM's in various cloud environments including Azure. Each in some RDP session I can be 2 or more deep and I set my task bars typically for the left side for efficient application stacking, and second level RDP session deep I set it to the right, again more effective task stacking and use of real estate. Combine this with the discontinuance of support for Windows 10 in 2025, this is making so desperate I'm having irrational thoughts of moving to iOS. Microsoft what were you thinking! Release a feature pack ASAP for Win11 that restores the ability to relocate the taskbar...please I'm desperate for productivity!
