I have three Windows update errors 0x80070020, error (KB5039211) and error (0x80070643).

I have gone through the process of ;

1, Extending the partition through CMD prompt

2, Running the Troubleshooter

3, Resetting the Windows Updates Components

4, Installed the latest .NET

This makes no difference to the update error problem.

Best regards,

Michael.

Please try the following procedure first before trying the others.

If you can't delete the $WINDOWS.~BT folder.

Download Process Explorer from Microsoft: https://live.sysinternals.com/procexp.exe

    Run Process Explorer.

From the File menu, click "Run as administrator".

Press Ctrl + Shift + F to launch the search dialog.

Type "$WINDOWS.~BT" (without quotes) and press Enter.

Post a screenshot of the results window.

By the way, the setup failed with the sharing violation error (0x80070020). I guess some driver has a lock over the "C:$WINDOWS.~BT" folder.

Please boot into Safe mode and delete that folder.

    To boot into Safe mode:

    Click Start, then select Settings.

Select Update & Security > Recovery.

    Open Recovery Settings

Under Advanced startup, select Restart now.

After your PC restarts, you'll see a list of options. Select 4 or press F4 to start your PC in Safe Mode.

    Delete the hidden "C:$WINDOWS.~BT" folder.

Then, from admin Command Prompt, run:

    chkdsk c: /r

    Press Enter.

Press Y when you see the following prompt:

    **************

The type of the file system is NTFS.

    Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another

process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be

checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

    *************

Restart Windows and let chkdsk finish the scan/repairs.

    Clean boot Windows using Msconfig.exe.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-t...

Re-run the Media Creation Tool. Choose to download the ISO instead of clicking the "Upgrade this PC...." option.

Mount the downloaded ISO, right-click and choose "Mount".

Run setup.exe to start the repair installation.

    Hi Ramesh

    setupact.log

I cant delete the BT folder as its asking for Admin permissions even though I'm logging in as admin and configured the properties in the folder to 'Allow' all permissions.

    Michael
