(KB5039211) refuses to install

2024-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5039211)

This update will not successfully apply, goes through the usual dialogs only to fail on restart and undo the changes.

I've tried SFC and DISM with no results.

Any help is appreciated.

    Also have this same issue... and as frustrating as this ordeal has been, I'm glad to see I'm not alone!

    I've tried just about everything and cannot install either of the following updates.

    KB5039211 2024-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 22H2 x64
    KB5039299 2024-06 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 22H2 x64

    I'd very much like to avoid doing an upgrade in place to fix this. Last time I did that it reset a ton of application settings and various tweaks I had made to Windows. For now (unless a fix is found?) I'll be patiently waiting for July's Cumulative Update to release and hopefully install without issue which will include the security fixes from June (and prior.)

    Things I've tried so far:

    SFC /scannow Found and fixed errors. Updates still fail with same error.
    DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth Found and repaired errors. Updates still fail with same error.
    Logging in as Administrator local account and installing it from there. Same error
    Resetting Windows Update Same error
    Fixed permissions (via IACLS on various folders mentioned in logs. Same error
    Installing the .cab update file from Microsoft Update Catalog via CMD: <br>dism /online /add-package /packagepath:"C:\KB5039211.cab Error's out at 5% with: An error occurred - Error: 0x8007000d - Error 13 - The data is invalid.Log file error: Extraction of file: update.ses failed because it is not present in the container (\?\C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\XXXXXXX)
    Installing the .msu update file from Microsoft Update Catalog via CMD: <br>wusa.exe "C:\KB5039211.msu" /log:"C:\KB5039211-Update.txt" **Error from log file:**182 [AGENT_INSTALLING_FAILED] - MoUpdateOrchestrator - Failure - Content Install - Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 8007000d.

    Subscribing to this thread, hopefully we get a fix or July's cumulative update fixes this.

    Try to check these services (services.msc). They must be not disabled:

    Wecsvc — Windows Event Collector

    AppReadiness — App Readiness

    DoSvc — Delivery Optimization

    lfsvc — Geolocation Service

    Try to check these services (services.msc). They must be not disabled:

    Wecsvc — Windows Event Collector

    AppReadiness — App Readiness

    DoSvc — Delivery Optimization

    lfsvc — Geolocation Service

    lfsvc was disabled, but the other three were set to manual startup.

    Edit: Enabled it and it still failed. :(

    Have you resized all of your recovery partitions? ( in case you have more than 1 hard drive) there's a YouTube follow along, to resize your recovery partition. I had to do a little bit of ad living because I had to hard drives. But her tutorial stacks, I did it twice to the one with the smallest partition just to make sure it had enough room for the future. And then I went and got a fresh copy of Windows 10 from Microsoft as if I was making a boot flash drive. And then just used it on this PC. Might have to go from safe mode to do that.

    I had to resize my recovery partition earlier this year when everyone was having issues installing that previous update. It has about 800MB free right now... but I can expand it again and see if that helps any.

    At this point, I just hope Microsoft is aware of this issue (with 5 pages worth of people having the same issue with this update)... and they fix it in time for the July cumulative update.
