Why is Paint 3D Shutting Down

Paint 3D is a tool I use for tasks regularly and I want to know why its shutting down all of a sudden

there's not enough information on why you cant keep it up, update it, or make a better version of it to fit windows 11.

The removal of Paint 3D shouldn't be necessary.

If it really has to go then I would like to know why you cant either save or remake it or even incorporate it into existing applications.

HAHA MICROSOFT ITS 24TH JANUARY 2025 RIGHT? GUESS WHAT. YOU DEPRECATED PAINT 3D ON NOVEMBER 4TH LAST YEAR. RIGHT? NOW I HAVE PAINT 3D ON MY WINDOWS 11 FRESH INSTALL!

I LAUGH IN THE FACE OF MICROSOFT AND SAY, WELL AND TRULY, WE WILL NEVER GIVE UP PAINT 3D. NO MATTER WHAT YOU TRY THERE IS ALWAYS A BACKDOOR, A METHOD TO REINSTALL IT!

    The UI/UX of Paint 3d was near perfect. So simple. So effective. I was sure they were going to finally put the axe to MSPaint. I'm so annoyed they are deleting Paint 3D.

    Very discouraging to see this, but sadly it's consistent with every other graphics tool Microsoft has ever launched:

    • PhotoDraw
    • Windows Journal
    • Microsoft Office Picture Manager
    • Photo Editor
    • Image Composite Editor
    • Photosynth
    • Picture It
    • Fine Artist
    • Image Composer
    • Microsoft Digital Image
    • TrueSpace
    • Expression Design

    And to this we can now add

    • Paint 3D
    • Publisher (due to be killed in 2026)

    I recall that there was at least one other quite good drawing program that made it to beta in the 1990s, but it was killed before it could be released.

    I can understand getting out of a business because of an inability to gain enough market share, but Microsoft has entered and left this market over a dozen times in 30 years. Given that track record, a lot of customers were likely hesitant to invest a lot of time and money in using MS design tools because they'll eventually be left in the lurch with a bunch of unreadable graphics files. When I first saw Paint 3D, I suspected it would eventually meet the same fate. I just found out today about Publisher being abandoned, and I have a *LOT* of .PUB files that will be orphaned. Shame on me for assuming that Publisher would be any different than the rest of the list above.

    Can you still import 3d models in the new paint?

    No. I don't think is allows it because it don't have all the functions that Paint 3D has like creating 3D shapes for example. I will wait until Microsoft adds all Paint 3D functions to MS Paint before I can start using MS Paint.
