How do I keep my mouse from leaving the window on FPS games?

So, when I'm playing any FPS games (or games that use the mouse to track the game environment), my mouse cursor goes invisible. However, instead of being locked to the center of the screen, it moves around freely, to the point where i have accidently minimized or closed out of my game. Also worth mentioning, this is on a laptop, not a multiple screen PC.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated, as I've exhausted my sources of research and none of them helped.

When I type this command, it says "Windows cannot find 'gpedit.msc'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." This issue is beyond frustrating. I've updated nvidia drivers, mouse drivers, and downloaded DMT. Even the sticky lock cursor setting does not work. What's even more weird is the only game that it stays locked on is Call of Duty. I unplugged all my monitors and it worked briefly last night on marvel rivals but then I got back on today and it wont stay locked again.

This is EXACTLY my issue! Marvel Rivals and Sea of Thieves my mouse won't stick to the main monitor. CoD:BO6 it's just fine. Dual Monitor Tool doesn't work. As soon as I hit launch, the cursor can move freely again.

Do what Gabriel said above, it worked for me and fixed Rivals. I'm going to check if Minecraft fixed as well.

On the file to the left, search for Computer configuration ->Administrative Templates-> Windows components ->Edge UI and disable.

This issue happened to me today for Both Marvel Rivals and Destiny 2. I have a LG 34 Inch Ultra Wide but prefer to run my games via a 16x9 Fancy Zone that I enabled auto snap on and I remove the borders with the BorderlessWindowGaming Tool. I have been using it for a year and it also has a Lock mouse to Game Window Feature as well.

However my was caused by the X-Box Game Bar. I connected a my new X-Box controller via bluetooth for the first time to my PC via and via bluetooth and the issue suddenly started happening after I messed around with the Game Bar as I thought it was a "cool feature". Unknownly opening Gamebar with the wireless controller configuration caused the issue of the mouse leaving the window for me. After trying to use Co-Pilot to solve it one of the suggestions was another forum post stating that Game Bar was the issue for them. I disabled it via task manager, restarted the PC it has since been fixed it for me.

Hope that helps anyone with the frustration as well. Though I had the BorderlessWindowGaming tool set to snap to window. Gamebar was able to override it and cause me much furstration in my gaming session tonight.

That is from an update from Windows. I had the exact same problem, tracked down the solve to get gpedit onto your system.

    Link to the Microsoft answers:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-to-enable-the-gpeditmsc-on-windows-10-and-11/dbc76919-f2b5-4dec-a2b7-bcf545c34d00

    Short and sweet:

    1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator
    2. Run the 2 (a and b) commands in Command Prompt:
      a) FOR %F IN ("%SystemRoot%\servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy-ClientTools-Package~*.mum") DO (DISM /Online /NoRestart /Add-Package:"%F")
      b) FOR %F IN ("%SystemRoot%\servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy-ClientExtensions-Package~*.mum") DO (DISM /Online /NoRestart /Add-Package:"%F")
    3. Restart your PC
    4. Press Win + R
    5. Enter the command gpedit.msc and press enter.
