Trying to boot from a usb stick In win 10 I get the message "Verifying shim SBAT data failed: Security Policy ViolationSomething has gone seriously wrong: SBAT self-check failed: Security Policy Violation" Can someone help me resolve it? Is this from the latest windows update?

This seems to have started right after a win update but I'm not sure if it's a coincident or not. Thanks for any help

    I have disabled secure boot,

    still i am not getting option for choosing windows or linux,

    Plz help me.

    Dave, the registry change works only if you make it BEFORE applying the august update, for example before restarting after update. After that SBAT is already changed. I suppose it is a change in the UEFI itself, because I cannot boot a Ventoy flash drive even if the hard disk is cleaned and deinitialized (diskpart, clean all)

    Hi Thanks for the reply. I faced the same problem as I use dual boot on my HP Envy laptop.

    My system wouldn't boot at all, throwing this error and shutdown.

    I had to go to BIOS boot options and disable Secure Boot. This allowed me to get boot menu.

    Windows boot has been successful. What does this registry key imply? Thanks.

    I got the same issue ... N it's starting piss me off I've tried everything even willing to back to beginning and restart .. so I need help too ... Where's all all the nerds at

    If you have access to the recovery system, try to go in the BIOS/UEFI settings and disable Secure Boot, it'll normally bypass the verification so the problem don't hold anymore (but it's unsecure).
    If that don't work but you've access to Windows, then you can uninstall the update and wait for the next that will hopefully fix the issue.
    If you can't access to Windows, then try to make a bootable usb key to avoid the verifications.
