Trying to boot from a usb stick In win 10 I get the message "Verifying shim SBAT data failed: Security Policy ViolationSomething has gone seriously wrong: SBAT self-check failed: Security Policy Violation" Can someone help me resolve it? Is this from the latest windows update?

This seems to have started right after a win update but I'm not sure if it's a coincident or not. Thanks for any help

    Try pressing the F2 key repeatedly immediately after turning on the power. This should open the BIOS menu. Once the BIOS menu opens, navigate to the security/boot option (it may vary depending on the machine) and locate the "Secure Boot" option. Change it to "disabled". Save the changes.

    This might work.

    I did add this registry that someone mentioned, but it didn't work for me so I uninstalled updates. Still no progress. Even worse because now after uninstalled update I had critical failure of Start Menu. After I reinstalled those updates I went ahead to turn off secure boot in bios. It did work but is not a solution for me. On my Dell latitude when you update windows it often updates bios as well. I think that somehow this update managed to screw up my bios. I will be reinstalling grub probably and might give some update on it.

    Hi Dave. Yes, I'm dual-booted with Ubuntu and Windows 10. I'm trying your suggestion now...

    I'm back. The CMD line did not work for me.

    To get my HP Elitebook to work with Win10 I had to hit the ESC key to enter the Startup Menu, then Boot Menu, then UEFI Windows Boot Manager & I'm in Windows.

    I'm using Linux Mint. I'm guessing it's the latest version because I always check for updates.

    Any additional help for the SBAT problem?

    I got the same issue ... N it's starting piss me off I've tried everything even willing to back to beginning and restart .. so I need help too ... Where's all all the nerds at
