Update to win 11 22h2 always fails

Hello everyone,

I'm having issues with Windows 11 update and can't complete the update by any means. The system is prompting me with two updates for

Windows 11, version 22H2
2024-10 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for x64-based Windows 11, version 22H2 (KB5044033)

The former goes through a long download and reboot each time, and ends up with the error code “Installation Error - 0xc1900101”.

The latter fails to install within a few minutes with “Installation Error - 0x80070057”.

My computer configuration

CPU:14900K
GPU:AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX(24GB)
Memory:Corsair Memory 192 GB DDR5 4000MHz(48GB×4)
SSD: SOLIDIGM SSD 2T
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 AERO G

All of my hardware drivers as well as the motherboard's BIOS version have been updated to the latest version and I have not installed any third party antivirus software, I have been trying for three months now and have not had a single success installing the update, the system version is now stuck on version number 22621.4391, I have tried almost every troubleshooting step I can find and none of them have solved the problem.

Here's what I've tried so far:

Upgraded in-place using the installer, but the update problem persists.
Windows Update Troubleshooter: ran the troubleshooter, but the update issue persists.
Went to the motherboard manufacturer's official website to download all the official versions of the drivers and override the installation, but the update issue still exists.
Go to the Microsoft® Update Catalog website to download the corresponding version of the patch package, but the installation still fails.
Using the ISO file to install with personal applications and data preserved prompts The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation
Disable Defender and perform a strict clean boot while staying offline, but the update issue persists.
Running the System File Checker (sfc /scannow) from a command prompt, restarting services, deleting the SoftwareDistribution folder, using DISM to repair Windows Update corruption, etc., but the update problem persists.
Running on a single memory stick, removing the graphics card, connecting to a single monitor using only the core graphics, removing all peripheral USB devices, and keeping only the necessary mouse and keyboard connections, but the update problem persists.

Thank you for your patience, yes 23H2 is still not gone after I tried several failed updates, maybe we need to try to eliminate the remaining 3rd party drivers, please let me know how I should proceed.

Yes, let's see if 23H2 disappears after some failed attempts. If it doesn't, let's try eliminating the remaining third-party drivers.

Hi John,

I'm not sure why 23H2 is offered again, although the system has already been upgraded to 23H2 using the enablement package. Based on what has been reported, the 23H2 update should vanish after some failed attempts.

If it doesn't, we must eliminate other drivers (mentioned in my previous post) using Farbar to see if that resolves the error 0xc1900101.

Also, 23H2 includes a built-in repair installation option in Settings. Please see:

Fix problems with your PC by using Windows Update - Microsoft Support:

Select Start > Settings > System > Recovery > Fix problems using Windows Update. Select the Reinstall now option.

By the way, the above option downloads the installation image (same OS version but the latest build) from Microsoft and repairs the existing installation.

Thanks for your advice! So as of now I'm still unable to do this large update is that right, as I see the system update shown below and would like to update it, but I'm afraid this won't work according to your analysis is that right?
