Why has microsoft copilot installed itself on my windows 10 pc?

Read the EU laws and policies on anti-competitive behaviour and then decide if Microsoft is complying. Or are they looking at another 561 million euro fine as in 2013 with Internet Explorer.

microsoft will not be placings **** on my pc after they no longer support windows 10 so why do it now, when we are only a few months out, because im one of the few million users that cannot be bothered with a system that continually implodes cause blue screen and gives bad updates ect thank for the good times. i have a phone that can access the internet with no AI (I think)

Well I hate it. It's screwing up every email I want to send. I hate Edge also. I don't WANT all of these updates. I just want to keep working on programs that I already understand. I certainly don't want some AI bot writing emails for me. Is there a way for me to uninstall everything? Can I contact Microsoft and have them do it? Is there another email program I can switch to? This thing is driving me crazy, I can't even write an email.

I would like to explain: Microsoft did not decide to install Copilot as a separate application on your computer.

As you are probably aware, Windows is continually updated. This is how Windows evolves over time. The updates are not additions to Windows, they are Windows.

The Windows operating system now includes artificial intelligence, of which Copilot is a visible example. As Windows continues to evolve through updates, we will see more artificial intelligence on our computers, which means, among other things, more of Copilot.

I want to be very clear about this: Even though it's on our computers as part of Windows, nobody is required to use Copilot, just as nobody is required to use Microsoft Edge or Windows Media Player or Windows Fax and Scan or the OneDrive app, etc. ... just because it's there doesn't mean we're supposed to use it. I myself don't use any of those things. Since I'm not using them, they aren't doing anything. Nevertheless, they remain part of the operating system, for the people who do want to use them, and for software developers who use them in their apps.

And all those unneeded apps take up much needed room! Especially on laptops that have very small drives. I made the mistake in updating to Windows 11. With both of the healthy disk segments and regular C where the OS resides I have less than 60 GB of 119 GB (estimations). So essentially my laptop is junk since I added WIN 11 OS. I will eventually install Linux on it.

I did not ask for this feature, I didn't even intentionally update my pc and while I am glad that I seem to have successfully uninstalled it, I am infuriated that it was installed without my knowledge nor consent. Generative AI is technology I personally believe to be genuinely evil and not something I would interact with willingly under any circumstances. Knowing that this feature is irremovable in win11 is the final excuse I need never to install it. If any Microsoft exec cares please burn down all of your AI infrastructure and reassign all those staff, it is a waste of money, talent, time and human energy. Please do not re-install Copilot in the next update, please.

Be worried when you are using it to search and all of a sudden you see all the information about you computer and the paths along with folder contents streaming on by in the co-pilot side panel. I thought I was going crazy. I tried to close out co-pilot and it wouldn't. Weird part was when I asked co-pilot WHY it downloaded my pc information. It responded "have a nice day!" Then crashed. I reset my system after that and even though I delete co-pilot it keeps returning.
