Why has microsoft copilot installed itself on my windows 10 pc?

I understand your concern regarding Copilot. Reports indicate that some PCs automatically received it after the Edge browser updated to the latest version. Initially, the preview release of Copilot functioned as a system component, making it a bit difficult to uninstall. However, it was later changed to an application to simplify its removal, a change many had requested. I'm positive that it should no longer install itself automatically now that the release period has ended. :)

AI Copilot just installed itself on my computer today (15 November 2024), without my permission. So, clearly, Microsoft still doesn't give a rat's **** about the freedom to choose, autonomy, and control over one's own PC environment, etc.

My drive frequently tells me me it's getting very low these days (can get as low as 4GB). While I wait for the new drives to arrive, I do NOT need Microsoft hijacking my control over my computer just because it has a major ego problem. You're really not that great Microsoft, especially when you behave like this. I don't need or want AI.

Now, instead of asking me and allowing and enabling the option to decline upfront, I have to waste precious time figuring out how to remove it, discover what other unwanted gems Microsoft failed to declare it has installed (it didn't tell me it had installed Copilot, I just spotted it), and remove those too. And pray none of this causes any unwanted problems on top. My computer is already in a delicate state. And I've already way too many things to do. In other words Microsoft, you're not the one left clearing up the mess YOU leave behind.

Microsoft is an obnoxious company.

This is why Micrsosoft et al should never have dominant market share. Your repeated overt and covert tendencies towards monopolising markets and people probably also means you shouldn't be allowed anywhere near AI... at all.

Your answer is complete Intellectual Dishonesty. "MS OS evolve over time" YES, It goes from OS 10 to OS 11. and OS 11 has features that we do not want in OS 10. We did not upgrade to 11 for a reason. THE OS 10 that I had, did not have any semblance of a feature like Copilot on it, and now you have updated the OS to include something that was NEVER in OS10. You have violated our trust and the EULA

THIS IS THE EXACT PROBLEM!!! We are not obligated to use copilot ... but Copilot uses us. It is an Artificial Intelligence. BY ITS VERY NAME, it indicates that it acts alone. The scariest search queries for Chat GPT users is asking it, "What do you know about me?" and the responses are terrifying.

WE DO NOT CONSENT to being used by Microsoft.

I am confused by the people who reply to questions in this forum.
It is always stated by your peers that all of you are just volunteers and do not work for Microsoft.
If that is the case then why do many of you answer in such a fashion that it comes across as though you do!? Or in such a way that it appears arrogant.

Your answer above suggests that you are part of the team and are also taking part in their team meetings. You seem to know what they are thinking, what they are planning and why they are doing what they are doing.

So how about some clarification, as many of the replies I have read come across this way.
So either you guys DO work for Microsoft or you do not.
If the latter, then perhaps don't talk to us as though we are a bunch of halfwits.
Or are we, because you do in fact, work for Microsoft? I dunno \o/

just updated windows, latest update KB5046613 and this installed Copilot unwillingly/without my consent, on my Windows 10 Home

i uninstalled it via start menu - Uninstall. I also noticed the "Run in background" option was also pre-enabled.

How can i be sure i completely uninstalled it ? Do i have to dig into registry keys and check values? will it also force reinstall in the future ?
