Why has microsoft copilot installed itself on my windows 10 pc?

I did not ask for this feature, I didn't even intentionally update my pc and while I am glad that I seem to have successfully uninstalled it, I am infuriated that it was installed without my knowledge nor consent. Generative AI is technology I personally believe to be genuinely evil and not something I would interact with willingly under any circumstances. Knowing that this feature is irremovable in win11 is the final excuse I need never to install it. If any Microsoft exec cares please burn down all of your AI infrastructure and reassign all those staff, it is a waste of money, talent, time and human energy. Please do not re-install Copilot in the next update, please.

    There's now a lower 365 subscription tier that doesn't offer copilot. I think that's the easiest way to get rid of it in Word at this point.

    Hi. I have the same problem - but in Word if you go to FIle>options there is a copilot setting, which you can simply disable. I have just done this and the pesky copilot seems to have shut up. Fingers crossed!

    I have tried to eliminate Copilot and it is still active in the Word application on my computer. It interferes with my writing trying to out-think what I am writing. I am a writer and I find this a serious distraction. How do I remove it from my Word taskbar and how do I never see it again. I am a creative and academic author and I want my work to be my work. I think with an application change as serious as this users should have the last say on whether to have it loaded to their machine or not. I have tried every suggestion to eliminate Copilot and none of them work.
