Cannot update to 24H2 because of partition error

Hello, I really need help with performing the update to Windows 11 24H2 update.

I have tried to search for update in Windows Update multiple times, and yet it keepts telling me I'm on the latest update. There are nothing in the optional section either. This is despite the fact my build version is 21H2, which is very old now.

I have tried downloading the Windows Update Assistant, but that was to no avail because every time it keepts telling me "we couldn't update the system reserved partition". I have 95 free gbs on my OS:C and so I have no idea what is causing this. I tried deleting temporary files, using the CMD and create a Y drive then deleting fonts through it, labelling the product file to .old and even tried a set of command to restart registries. The Update Assistant or the ISO version, both returned with the same message.

I have grown quite desperate now since I realized Windows never even offered to update me to 22H2 and 23H2. All the tutorials on Youtube all pointed to the MS guide to deleting the fonts. I ran out of options, and I can't contact any agents because the system keep telling me my account was logged in too many times.

    Is this a Dell or an HP system? I see both Dell and HP folders there.

    That's it. Now, the disk space in the EFI partition is insufficient. To prevent quality updates from failing due to this, you may consider one of the following options.

    (or)

    Discard the existing EFI partition and create a new EFI partition of size 200 MB or more. This can be done using Diskpart.

    This is what I got:

    C:\WINDOWS\System32>Mountvol Y: /s

    The directory is not empty.

    C:\WINDOWS\System32>cd /d C:\Lenovo\BIOS

    C:\Lenovo\BIOS>copy /y SelfHealing.* Y:\EFI\Lenovo\BIOS\

    SelfHealing.fd

    1 file(s) copied.

    C:\Lenovo\BIOS>

    Ok. the file is now copied.

    Does that resolve the issue?

    Hi Nico,

    The file "RVMTL357.cap" occupies most of the disk space in the EFI partition. It may be the BIOS recovery image. You have two options:

    1. Resize the EFI partition as others did in this thread. They used a third-party tool to extend the partition.

    (or)

    1. Move RVMTL357.cap to the C drive temporarily. If it breaks something (e.g., unable to enter BIOS or delay during boot), you can put it back into the EFI partition.

    Run:

    • Mountvol Y: /s
    • md C:\CAP
    • Move Y:\RVMTL357.cap C:\CAP\

    Re-run the Windows 11 24H2 setup.
